BMW 1 Series  - SEO Internet Marketing

BMW 135i PhotosCircle BMW in Eatontown New Jersey hired us to develop two website to market the new 2008 BMW 1 Series.  Their goal was to great a portal for information on the new line of cars for the BMW user community.  They wanted the website not to be a commercial portal for PPC ads all over the website.  They wanted an easy to navigate, consumer friendly site.

So, using our network of resources we secured two great domains for this stage of the project; www.bmw128i.com and www.bmw135i.net.  We would have preferred to have the 135i website as a ".com" but that was already taken by a BMW user forum website.  So, as we set out of similar but different paths for each car we had a chance to see that the ".com" domain was indexed and ranked about a week ahead of the ".net" domain with similar SEO design and launch tactics. 

Our experience has shown that ".com: domains are still the best and avoid picking domain names that have more than one "-" in the name. However, in the case of the 135i.net website, the way the ".com" site was being used by someone else did not hurt our ability to rank high in Google very quickly.

The new BMW 1 Series websites were launched in the first week of July 2007 and have been growing in content each week as new information is found on the web.  Since BMW USA has not released the official 1 Series PDF brochure, part of the challenge was to find content for the site while everyone waits for more information.  Using some proprietary tools, we were able to find some great information for the website that has results in hundreds of user signups for our informational BWM 1 Series newsletter.

The feedback from the BMW user community is that they liked our site since it was not intertwined with Google ads, flashing banners and obvious link bait to generate ad revenue.  In the end, Circle BMW wanted to take the higher road and we followed their lead.

BMW SEO Results

Here are some results for the two website that we created for this project as well as other sites that we have developed for Circle BMW.  The data was taken from searches performed on July 27, 2007 using Google.  In SEO, being the First article listed on Google Page One is the "holy grail", so any listing that is number 1, page 1 will have an asterisk and placed in red typeface.

We also dominate for local search that include these models and the words New Jersey or NJ.  You can add NJ or New Jersey to any of these phrases to see how many times Circle BMW dominate page one of Google.  For example, "BMW 128i NJ" yields 9 page one results for Circle BMW.

BMW 1 Series marketing efforts continue
